Here are a few stories to read this Monday morning.

  • There’s a coalition of Canadian publishers who are demanding that the Canadian gov’t force schools to start paying once more for educational use of copyrighted material. (In the USA, much of that use would be covered by the fair use doctrine).
  • D2D published a guide on how to use their coupon manager.
  • Richard Hollick has an interesting post on the topic of Peter Pan’s perpetual copyright.
  • It looks like we might soon have a judgment in the Internet Archive piracy case.
  • Author Michael Chabon recreated the SF section from the bookstore of his youth .
  • Amazon is again being sued over its ebook monopoly, and this time around the case looks legally sound.
  • When was the last time you checked your Goodreads author profile? If you find spam books or bad metadata, you can ask someone to fix it in this group.
