Here are a few stories to read this morning.
- Professors are growing increasingly concerned that students are arriving at universities with a severe lack of reading skills.
- Authors are up in arms over the HWA’s new draft policy on AI.
- There’s speculation that Amazon could discontinue the Kindle ereader. Honestly, I think the only reason they haven’t already done this is because they know it will be misinterpreted as “Amazon is shutting down the Kindle Store”.
- The New Yorker digs into ChatGPT’s writing skills.
P.S. I have a question for you. I am going to start selling and shipping merch. (This is one of the reasons why I got the thermal postage printer I mentioned last week.) Right now I am working the bugs out of my shipping process. Basically, I am looking for a handful of people who would like me to ship them one of these writer job badges (PDF).
I need to see if they will survive the post office first class mail, so if you think they are cool, send me an email with your address. I’ll send you a badge and a lanyard. All you have to do is tell me the condition when they arrive (posting images on social media would also be appreciated).
