Here are a few stories to read this Monday morning.
- Jeffrey Wassetrom argues that assigning historical fiction along side history books (aka sanctioned historical fiction) can help fill in the gaps in the historical record.
- Grammarly, a startup with an AI editor so bad it is the perfect example of how AI will never replace people, just raised $200 million.
- How authors are finding success on Kindle Vella.
- What’s really interesting about the AAP’s figures for the size of the book publishing industry is that they debunk the “digital didn’t kill print” claim. Some segments like education have been decimated.
- Adam Tinworth argues that blogging isn’t dead. (he’s right)
- The efforts to preserve a 1,200 year old book found in an Irish bog are simply fascinating.
P.S. I am five days into caffeine detox. Does anyone know when this gets better?
First time I successfully came off caffeine it took 2 weeks to mostly not have headaches etc and over a month to stop feeling out of sorts.
I’ll get a very bad headache after several days of drinking lots of coffee. It took me a while to figure out they were from caffeine withdrawal. It’s also hard to control how much caffeine you’re getting when you drink coffee. It sounds weird but for that morning pickup I take a caffeine pill, 100 mg. There are also ones that are 50 mg plus L-Theanine.
