Japan struck the first blow against the Apple content tax. iOS apps will soon be able to link to an external website so users can set up or manage an account.
It turns out the AAP was wrong; Maryland’s library ebook law does not necessarily run afoul of fed’l copyright law. An opinion paper (PDF) written by US Register of Copyrights Shira Perlmutter lists any number of reasons that the law might be legit.
KDP now offers month-to-date reports.
Get ready for a shitty buying experience; Comixology is going to be subsumed into the Amazon website.
A really weird snail mail scam letter has been showing up in mailboxes.
A white supremacist was sentenced to reading Jane Austen in lieu of prison time.
The New Yorker has a decent historical overview of library ebooks.
