Here are a few stories to read this Monday morning.
- The judge issued a preliminary injunction in the Maryland ebook licensing case in favor of publishers. Next stop, appeals court.
- A few months back I warned you that the print supply issues was creating a surge in navel gazing about books which basically recycled decade old ideas. This “books will become obsolete” post is a perfect example of that.
- This “ebooks will replace print books” is another example of stale recycled thinking.
- Amazon is now selling POD books via Amazon.nl.
- The reading experience in the newly combined Kindle+Comixology app is simply terrible, according to early reviews. It sounds like Amazon corporate is running the show rather than ebook or book people. It’s a pity that the merge didn’t go the other way, with Comixology ending up in charge of the Kindle app.
- This rich fool thinks we should pack paper books when we travel. (Maybe our servants can carry them?)
- The US Copyright Office has once again rejected the copyright registration of an AI-generated artwork.
- While I would not say that Google is dying per se, I do agree with this post that the search results are considerably less useful than they used to be. I too now look for info from real people rather than review sites.
