Here are a few stories to read this Monday morning.

  • Book publishers are suing the state of Idaho over its library book bans.
  • Amazon has some tips on how authors can grow their audience using Author Follow.
  • Written Word Media has advice on how authors can budget for their book.
  • A new ruling from Louisiana has expanded the reach of the copyright termination section of USA copyright law. According to the judge, creators can now terminate all copyrights, including internationally.
  • On the one hand this makes sense when the copyright originates from the USA (any contract over the copyright would be subject to USA law, and this is effectively a part of contract law). On the other hand, the rights in this case were sold, not assigned, and I question the validity of the idea that you can cancel a _sale_ decades later.

P.S. About a month back I wrote a post which uses the Terminator movies to explore the difference between setting and genre (Google Docs). I’d like to submit it as a guest blog post, but I’m not sure where (it’s a post on craft, and I’ve never done this type of post before). Can you suggest a blog?
