Here are a few stories to read this Monday morning.

Last month Wired published an article on how to keep your data from being used to train AI.
A Simon & Schuster subsidiary in the Netherlands is going to experiment with AI-translated books. This is going to end badly. AI translation has been around for a couple decades, and currently works just good enough that it doesn’t suck. That’s enough for translating books.
I’m not sure The Walrus knows quite what to say about new novels that make modern internet-based cultural references.
Audible announced a new royalty model.
Jane Friedman thinks you shouldn’t demonize POD.

P.S. Speaking of Print on Demand, I have been asked to find a POD machine to have on display at an SF convention in Baltimore in May. The Espresso Book Machine would be a good option, except I don’t know that we can get one now that On Demand books has shut down.
