I am really terrible about tooting my own horn, so you probably don’t know that for the past couple months I have been the volunteer webmaster for DisCon III, the 2021 world SF convention. It’s been an interesting experience and I learned a lot, but now I have bigger news.
I am going to be on a panel. The title is Publishing Your eBook, and it is scheduled for Friday afternoon. We will be discussing currency fluctuations in pre-Hellenic Greece, and I cannot tell you how excited I am.
If you are coming to DisCon, I hope you will be able to make it to my panel. You’ll also be able to find me in the exhibit hall. Actually, you might not be able to find the exhibit hall, but if you do, look me up!
The thing about DisCon is that its hotel, the Omni Shoreham, has a rather convoluted layout. If you can find your way around without getting lost at least once, you will be ahead of the herd. In fact, the hotel is so confusing that I have a backup plan for when I am in the audience of a session, and the panelists can’t find the room: I plan to throw a spontaneous panel consisting of whoever happens to be there at that moment.
The other thing about the Omni Shoreham is that it is rather small. It is in fact so small that the exhibit hall is actually one of the parking garages. No, seriously, I am not kidding; DisCon III is being held in a parking garage.
I didn’t think to take photos when I was there earlier today, but I will be sure to tweet a few when I go in to set up for the con. (So will the other exhibitors, I am sure.)
