Here are a few stories to read this Monday morning.

  • A pay what you want bookstore has opened in Chicago’s west side.
  • Amazon just released an update for the Kindle.  From what I hear on Twitter, it’s ticking off a lot of users.
  • A site run by Mormons was going to rate YA books for “cleanliness”. It was shut down less than 16 hours after it launched.
  • Students are protesting a southern Pennsylvania school district’s ban of books by black authors.
  • Supply chain issues are going to make print books harder to get, and the problem is not expected to go away any time soon. Luckily we do not have a shortage of electrons for making ebooks.
  • The aforementioned print books supply chain issues are causing ebook haters like Ian Bogost to encounter ebooks for the first time, so you should probably be prepared to read more crap like his piece in The Atlantic
  • Here are ten plotting tips from the tv series “How I Met Your Mother”.
  • Onyx just released a 13.3″ E-ink monitor
  • This list of Hunter S Thompson’s unpublished books is just wild
  • A public library and a church are fighting over who owns a 2.5ac plot in Delaware. It was deeded to the library on the condition that it would build a library structure there (there’s a Little Free Library on the site, but no other facility).
