Here are a few stories to read this Monday morning.

• The NYTimes is wrong to say that X is the best letter in the alphabet; that honor goes to the ampersand, or possibly thorn. 
• Kris Rusch delves into what everyone isn’t saying about recent publishing industry revenue stats. 
• Your Echo speaker will soon share your internet connection with the neighbors. You can disable this in the Alexa settings menu, and here are other steps you can take to increase privacy when using Amazon services. 
• Victoria Strauss shares details on two new scams to look out for.
• Amazon is now offering a cheaper color printing option in KDP. 
• An ultimately doomed attempt to pay authors royalties on used book sales just launched in the UK. (No, I don’t think authors should be paid a second time for the sale of a copy of their book. No one else who put work into it is getting paid.)
• The Maryland bill which requires publishers to license their ebooks to libraries has been signed into law. Next step: requiring the ebooks be licensed at retail prices, and not the extortionate rates accepted in the library market. (If a library can’t afford to buy the ebook it is effectively still unavailable.) 
• BookForum explores modern literary trolling.  (for the most part, it’s not half as much fun as historical literary trolling)
