Everyone keeps saying that mobile websites are important, but what does that really mean?

For starters, half or more of a website’s visitors get there from a mobile device. They’re typically browsing over a 3G connection on a small screen powered by a comparatively weak CPU. This means a site’s speed is even more critical than for desktop visitors.

In fact, recent research from Google’s DoubleClick showed that 53% of mobile visitors will leave a site if pages take longer than 3 seconds to load.

The following infographic from Google Adsense explains in detail why mobile site’s speed is so important.
