Here are a few stories to read this Monday morning.

  • Audible is testing an AI-powered search feature.
  • There’s growing evidence (this time, from researchers) that AI doesn’t understand what it is creating.  (Like I have said before, it’s really just guessing at what it is supposed to be creating.)
  • The Oxford University Press blog asks whether the word existential is itself having an existential crisis.  (Basically , existential is commonly misused similar to how “begging the question” is misused)
  • Jonathan Bailey shared 5 things he learned after becoming a DMCA agent for websites. (A DMCA agent is one of those things we really should be doing for our sites, but most of us do not.)
  • I just realized that being a DMCA agent is something I could be doing for my clients, so I am looking into the process. One thing I discovered is that every time you update an agent’s records, you have to pay a $6 fee. If you want to register yourself as an agent, you can start here.

P.S. The weekend after next will find me in Nashville TN for Killer Nashville and Bouchercon. Be sure to stop by my booth and say ello!
