Here are a few stories to read this Monday morning.

  • Dutch booksellers are having to sell books old school after their software vendor was taken out by a cyber attack
  • Animal Farm notwithstanding, books with animals as main characters are reportedly going extinct
  • This list of books the “Moms for Liberty” group want banned from Tennessee schools makes for unintentionally hilarious reading
  • The Internet Archive’s Wayforward Machine explores what the Web might look like 25 years from now. Basically it’s going to look like what we have now, only worse.
  • A school in London is banning its students from using slang and a number of other common phrases in the classroom.
  • Should “standard” English be taught as being better than vernacular English?  (Considering that standard English is not taught in most American schools, I’d say the point is moot.)
  • The UK Society of Authors has published an open letter calling for translators to be named on book covers.  (I vote for ghost writers being added next.)
